Applied Cybersecurity Department (P762) within the National
Cybersecurity Federally Funded Research and Development Center
(FFRDC) (P700) seeking Principal Applied Cybersecurity Strategist
to support NCF R&D programs. We will provide you with
challenging opportunities to apply and expand your project
management, process improvement, innovation and transformation, and
analytics skills. You will use your abilities to address complex
issues of critical national and global significance. We are looking
for highly motivated, adaptive, and self-directed professionals
with a wide variety of interests and a foundation of skills in
cybersecurity, cybersecurity process implementation, and knowledge
of various government cybersecurity regulations/federal laws.Roles
& Responsibilities:
- Uses broad program management and cyber expertise to identify
and create cyber solutions in research environments
- Develops innovative offerings and identifies opportunities for
cyber capabilities by applying a mix of strategic and technical
knowledge of policy and regulations across public and private
sectors.
- Provide project management leadership for applied cybersecurity
research to include engagement strategies, and technical writing
promoting the adoption of project outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong familiarity and skill in one or more of the
following areas: Cyber Policy, Strategy, and Privacy, Applied
Cybersecurity, Cyber Analytics, Cyber Architecture and Resilience,
Cyber Operations.
- Leads complex cyber engineering, architecting, and solutioning
projects and tasks at the enterprise level, to include using
industry-based frameworks such as the Risk Management Framework
(RMF), Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and Artificial Intelligence
(AI) RMF.
- Collaborate with sponsors to identify operational and
cybersecurity engineering challenges, potential solutions, and
strategies for execution.
- Comfortably and respectfully engage with sponsor leadership and
MITRE managers.
- Be able to modify and alter course as the environment and
sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be
an effective conduit to bring the talent forward to execute at the
right time.
- Work with leadership to translate MITRE's mission and strategy
into operations by contributing to the National Cybersecurity
Center of Excellence (NCCoE) goal of increasing cybersecurity
research areas.
- Apply knowledge of cyber solutions and standards to promote the
most impactful application of resources.Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience
with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a
PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related
education and work experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of Federal government cybersecurity
laws, regulations, policies, standards and executive orders.
- Demonstrated experience with the design, development, and
implementation of enterprise cybersecurity solutions/programs,
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of detailed
cybersecurity assessments and recommendations that produce a
measurable increase in an organization's cybersecurity
capabilities
- Demonstrated experience with the implementation and management
of cybersecurity controls such as NIST 800-53 security
controls
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity
Framework (CSF) 2.0 Core Functions (Govern, Identify, Protect,
Detect, Respond, and Recover).
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred
Qualifications:
- Track record of innovative and critical thinking
- Knowledge of NIST specific cybersecurity regulations, policies,
and procedures
- Experience in strategic planning, project management, and
