collaboration. As a Senior Virtual Desktop Engineer at CGI Federal,
you will lead the design, implementation, and management of virtual
desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions for a federal law
enforcement agency’s classified environment. This role involves
hands-on VDI engineering combined with leadership responsibilities,
ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of virtual
desktop systems, mentoring junior engineers, and advising
stakeholders on VDI strategy and governance. Your future duties and
responsibilities: Lead the design, implementation, and management
of VDI solutions for a federal law enforcement agency’s classified
data processing systems directorate. Ensure optimal performance,
security, and scalability of virtual desktop systems across
classified environments. Collaborate with cybersecurity, network,
and software development teams to integrate VDI solutions, develop
use cases, and support deployment and maintenance activities.
Support system authorization and continuous monitoring activities,
maintain comprehensive VDI documentation, and ensure solutions
align with federal standards and mission requirements. Lead VDI
strategy workshops, roadmap development, and stakeholder
presentations. Architect VDI integration pipelines, develop VDI
specifications, dashboards, and KPIs. Align VDI development to NIST
SP 800-53 and ISCM requirements. Extend VDI capabilities to
AWS/Azure/GCP and integrate with automation and orchestration
tools. Establish content lifecycle governance and mentor junior
staff. Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a
related field. Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Minimum of seven (7) years in VDI engineering with expertise in
designing and implementing secure virtual desktop solutions. One or
more of the following certifications: VMware Certified Professional
- Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) Citrix Certified Professional -
Virtualization (CCP-V) Microsoft Certified: Windows Virtual Desktop
Specialty Desired: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in federal government or diplomatic environment at the
department level or experience supporting classified environments
within federal law enforcement or Intelligence Community
organizations. Experience integrating VDI solutions with
cybersecurity tools, network infrastructure, and cloud platforms.
Experience with VDI solutions in hybrid/zero-trust architectures.
Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks (800-53, 800-171,
800-190). Additional cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
