Job Description:
About the Role An exciting opportunity has become available for
a skilled and creative Cook to join a prestigious and private
members' club located in Washington, DC servicing UHNW clientele.
The club offers a refined dining experience to its distinguished
membership. This role is integral to the culinary team, with a
focus on delivering exceptional food offerings and contributing to
an elevated and memorable dining experience. Position Overview The
Cook will be responsible to plan, prep, and provide quality service
in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in the
designated outlets in accordance with standards, recipes, and
plating guide specifications. They will maintain organization,
cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment, in
addition to preparing menu items at assigned station, ensuring food
quality that meets the set standards. Principal (Essential) Duties
Responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of
dishes from assigned station. Communicates frequently & clearly to
the Chef de Partie as to orders and progress on orders. Maintain
and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and club
requirements. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance
and use of equipment; use equipment and tools only as intended,
properly and safely. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with
all departmental/club policies and procedures. Meet with Junior
Sous Chef/Sous Chef to review assignments, anticipated business
levels, changes, and other information pertinent to the job
performance. Inspect the cleanliness and organization of the
workstations; rectify any deficiencies & maintain throughout the
shift. Organize all of the various prep items needed from different
areas to ensure that all items are in place and ready for assigned
service. Prepare all menu items following recipes and yield guides,
according to department standards. Maintain proper storage
procedures as specified by Health Department and club requirements.
Minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food
cost. Complete opening and closing duties (which include but are
not limited to): Set up workstation with required mise en place,
tools, equipment and supplies according to set standards. Inspect
the cleanliness and working condition of all tools, equipment and
supplies. Ensure everything complies with set standards. Check
production schedule and pars. Establish priority items for the day.
Inform the Junior Sous Chef of any supplies that need to be
requisitioned for the day's tasks. Qualifications & Experience
Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship or at least 2
years’ experience as a cook in a luxury establishment. Proven
cooking experience, including experience in a similar position.
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in job-related English.
Understanding of food and safety and sanitation practices.
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients,
equipment, and procedures. Ability to work varied shift and
flexible schedule in a hot, humid, and nosey environment. Why Join
