The hours are 11:30pm-7:30am Tuesday -Saturday The HVAC/R
Technician I: Pay Grade:$22.55-$36.08/ hr The HVAC/R Technician
inspects, repairs, troubleshoots and maintains various HVAC,
refrigeration, steam systems and related equipment. Maintains,
installs and repairs a wide variety of HVAC/R equipment, including
a steam turbine, stem absorption units, centrifugal chillers,
direct expansion units, heat exchangers, air handling systems,
exhaust fans, intake fans, water coolers, air filters, steam and
air pressure reducing stations, dehumidification equipment,
humidification equipment, various pressure and non-pressure piping
system and cooling towers. Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe
and tubing according to specifications contained in the work
request. Studies engineering drawings, technical manuals and
sketches to determine possible operational problems with equipment.
Maintains, repairs and replaces valves and fittings in steam,
domestic hot water, heating and cooling systems. Maintains,
replaces and repairs steam regulating systems and other auxiliary
equipment. Maintains, replaces and repairs shell and tube heat
exchangers. Performs urgent, corrective, routine and requisitioned
repairs for refrigeration and air conditioning systems, domestic
hot water systems and various building heating and cooling systems.
Maintains records to ensure compliance with state, federal and
JCAHO regulations and standards. Prepares material list for stock
repair parts as well as project material list. Prepares and records
accurate records for preventative maintenance Assumes other duties
and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the
position and area. The above responsibilities are a general

Competencies required: Knowledgeable and observes all safety
regulations. Knowledge of heating and cooling air handling systems.
Knowledge of fluid systems and brazing techniques. Ability to
follow both written and oral instructions. Ability to utilize sound
judgment to carry out detailed but involved written or oral
instructions. Ability to maintain a professional manner at all
times. Exhibits courtesy and excellent customer service, while
interacting with patients, guests and co-workers. Problem solving
skills with the ability adapt to changes. Time management skills;
able to perform multiple tasks within a confine time. Customer
service skills. Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a Journeyman program required. Five (5) years of
experience in HVAC/R systems Universal Refrigeration License (not
