Job Description Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1 years Special Education Teacher experience required. This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support elementary students in a highly inclusive classroom setting, serving grades K2. The position requires working primarily with resource caseloads that include a blend of pull-out and push-in instructional services. Many students have behavioral needs, so experience with Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) implementation is strongly preferred. Candidates who have a preference for smaller caseloads supporting students with low cognitive profiles are encouraged to indicate this in their application. Key Responsibilities: Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special education needs in a K2 elementary setting Provide both pull-out and push-in support to students in a resource classroom Collaborate with paraeducators, classroom teachers, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments Monitor and support behavioral goals, including implementation of BIPs for students with behavioral challenges Maintain documentation and progress reports in compliance with district and state regulations Qualifications: Maryland Special Education Certification (K5) required or currently in process Experience managing a special education caseload, ideally around 18 students Strong knowledge of behavior management strategies and BIP implementation Ability to collaborate effectively with paraeducators and classroom staff Flexibility to adapt to varying support staff levels and student needs Location: Elementary school in Silver Spring, Maryland Employment Type: Contract, lasting through the current school year or until a permanent hire is made Start Date: ASAP Weekly Schedule: 7 paid hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners in a supportive and inclusive environment.
